Professional Contributions

The best part about being a teacher is the opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom. I have had the privilege of working with students in so many different capacities over the course of the last 4 years.

Model UN Club

Advising the Model UN Club at Clinton has become one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching career. In my time as the Model UN advisor, I have helped grow our club from 15 students to a thriving club of over 45 active members. We attend a multitude of conferences every year and are considered a prestigious and award-winning program within the NYC MUN Community. As their advisor, I try to foster student leadership and empower students to engage with critical global issues.

Our biggest success as a Model UN Club so far has been the creation of our very own conference! Demonstrating a commitment to equity, our club fundraises to ensure that Title I schools can participate in the conference at no cost.  No other conference we participate in has a fee structure like this and we host over 250 student delegates at our conference from all over NYC, Westchester, and Long Island.

I could go on about how fulfilling it is to be The Clinton School's Model UN Advisor but instead I would love if you visit the website I created for our club!

LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Club

At my old school, Bronx Legacy, I was the only LGBTQIA+ staff member. When multiple LGBT+ students reached out to me about discrimination that they faced at our school, I decided to found and lead the schools LGBTQIA+ club. We used our club time to create awareness posters, discuss personal struggles, watch movies and TV shows that featured LGBT+ storylines, and made identity bracelets that helped students show pride in their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Academic Field Trips

Over the past few years I have had the pleasure of creating and running a a multitude of field trips for The Clinton School. As a the Latin Language and Roman Civilization EEE teacher, I organized trips to various NYC landmarks that were inspired by Roman Architecture as well as the MET. We also saw Gladiator II in theaters. As the Government teacher, I organized overnight trips to Washington DC so students could visit our nation's capital.
